Journalists who attended the 5 day long National Development Strategy 1 workshop in Gweru have raised concerns after a list of their names has been leaked on social media.

This follows the death of the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists secretary-general Foster Dongozi who succumbed to Covid 19 a few days after the workshop.

The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services has since facilitated for all journalists who were in attendance to get urgent PCR tests.

However, concerns have arisen from the scribes over the possibility of stigmatisation and violation of privacy after a list of names with identity numbers has been leaked on social media platforms.
” We are saddened by the passing on of Dongozi who succumbed to Covid 19 after the NDS1 workshop in Gweru.
” We thank the First Lady who had to intervene for us to get free PCR tests and many of us are still waiting for results to come out though no one has since tested positive.
” We are however worried over the circulating list on social media with names of journalists and communications officers who allegedly were in contact with Dongozi causing unnecessary panic among our peers,” said one journalist who spoke on condition of anonymity.
It is now day 10 after the participants came back from the workshop.
