Masvingo High Court Judge’s on Munyaradzi Junior Mawadze (21) has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Harare cellphone dealer who went missing some two weeks ago.
The dealer, Sipho Million Ncube was found dead in a bush near Ruwa suburban area after being stabbed with a knife.
His elder brother Tichaona Chinhamo confirmed the death as he narrated the whole ordeal.
Ncube missing pictures went viral on social media for the past weeks with friends and relatives appealing for his whereabouts.
“He was phoned by a certain guy who wanted some iPhone 11 Pro Max brands and he went in to town where he met the caller at ZimPost in the CBD and gave him about four brands of the make which he had requested.
“Then the person went on to say that the money was short and they had to go to Waterfalls together to take the balance and out of trust, also looking at the sum of money which was around USD 5k he agreed since it was a big catch,” narrated Chinhamho.
“ He did not know that he was walking in to a laid trap as that was the last time he was seen, I got a couple of messages weeks ago saying Sipho had not yet returned home and was still missing, I then started spreading word around and people said a whole lot of negatives,”
Allegations are that the case was being played around with since the suspect is son to one of Zimbabwe’s high profile figures in the person of Justice Garainesu Mawadze .
The suspect was once summoned to Harare Central by the police but he was retrieved by some ‘boys in suits’ saying he was not supposed to be asked anything or hold in the cells and they took him away
“The CID guys kept pursuing the case and two days ago I was told that there is car which was used by the Judges’s son which was found at a car wash with traces of blood and clothes that were worn by Sipho the last time he was seen”.
It is reported that Mawadze was pressed to talk but refused to say anything until the ‘boys in the suits’ came to retrieve him again.
“Then yesterday (Wednesday) the CID detectives gave him a call summoning him for questioning but he gave an excuses saying he was in Masvingo where they did sent their colleagues over there leading to his arrest,”
“Sipho’s mother was later called for DNA match testing and at that moment another guy at ZimPost who seem to know what happened was taken by CID for questioning where he confessed to the whole ordeal shedding light at the whereabouts of the body,”
Sipho’s body was found lying in a bush in Ruwa and police have since made three arrests.
Efforts to get a comment from the Police were futile at the time of publishing, however close sources to the judge’s son allege that Mawadze has also been implicated in the murder of another University of Zimbabwe student who was found floating in Mukuvisi river sometime last year.
